Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Nintendo 3DS Game

STORY

One day in the Mushroom Kingdom, a letter arrives from a mysterious Dr Snoozemore, inviting Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach to Pi'illo Island. A free holiday, being offered to our heroes by a complete stranger? What could possibly go wrong?

Soon enough, the gang arrive on Pi'illo Island, although strangely, there's no appearance from the elusive Dr Snoozemore. While sightseeing, the gang discovers that Luigi has a special talent. When he sleeps on a stone pillow from the island, a magical portal to the dream world appears! Unfortunately, Princess Peach is abruptly sucked into this dream world by an unknown assailant..

It turns out that the stone pillows are actually trapped Pi'illo folk, who were encased in their stony prisons by the evil Bat King, Antasma. Mario must now navigate his way between the dream world and the real world, rescuing the Pi'illo folk and hopefully finding Peach in the process. It's his toughest challenge yet - can Mario save Peach?

CHARACTERS

Mario
If there's one thing Mario loves more than beating Bowser, it's going on holiday! An invitation to visit Pi'illo Island seems like too good an opportunity to pass up, but Mario's soon called upon to do what he does best: save the day!

Luigi
Everyone's favorite green hero just barely makes it along for the ride to Pi'illo Island. Thank goodness he came though.. without his fantastic ability to fall asleep at the drop of a hat, Mario wouldn't be able to visit the dream world!

Princess Peach
It wouldn't be a real adventure for Mario and Luigi if Princess Peach didn't end up in trouble! Try as she might to enjoy the trip to Pi'illo Island, she's soon kidnapped by a mysterious force and taken to the dream world.

Starlow
Mario and Luigi meet up with their former companion soon after they arrive on Pi'illo Island. When the pair are in the real world, Starlow spends her time giving advice and helping the brothers out whenever they're in a jam.

Prince Dreambert
Prince Dreambert is the prince of the Pi'illo folk! It's not long before he enlists Mario and Luigi's help to save his his people from a stony fate!

Free sound clips.
Bowser
It wouldn't be the same without Bowser, so it's a good job he turns up to Pi'illo Island too - even if he is uninvited! Wonder what he's got planned this time?

Antasma
The evil bat king was once trapped in the dream world by the Pi'illo folk but used the last of his power to seal them away in stone. Now he's back and ready to wreak revenge on those who sealed him away for all time!

GAMEPLAY

Exploring Together
Mario and Luigi adventures aren't like other Mario games – once the pair are reunited on Pi'illo Island, you'll have to control both brothers at once! Moving the pair around is easy, as they stick together as a team, but when you want to jump across gaps or up onto ledges, you'll have to use the A and B Buttons to make Mario and Luigi jump respectively.

You've Got the Moves
Jumping is just one of the many talents that Mario and Luigi learn on their travels around Pi'illo Island. Soon enough, you'll discover a pair of Hammers that let the brothers bash away on rocks, switches and all kinds of monsters, again controlled with the A and B Button for Mario and Luigi respectively. Next comes the Mole Mario move, the Small Mario move and many more moves besides!

To the Dream World!
Whenever you discover a mystical stone pillow around Pi'illo Island, Luigi can use it to create a portal that allows Mario to enter the dream world. These stone pillows are actually members of the lost Pi'illo folk, but they won't go back to being themselves until you rescue their soul from the dream world.. be sure to rescue as many of them as you can, as you'll be rewarded for it!

Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Low the mario and luigi series in general. They kind of played on the same story as bowsers inside story, but this time it's inside luigi.
The gameplay itself is legit and the story has great humor that reminded me of past titles.

Cons: Nintendo came out with too many games at the same time so I haven't had time to finish this one yet.

Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: - Amazing soundtrack
- Long game (30-40 hours)
- 3D effect is best on the system and adds to gameplay
- Challenging

Cons: Nothing. 5/5 game

Ownership: 1 month to 1 year

Pros: Nintendo's first party spin on the RPG with one of the greatest IPs in the world. If this is your first title in the series you're sure to have a blast.
While some criticize the plethora of tutorials availed in this title, I think they are great to lessen the learning curve to widen the audience.

Cons: Nintendo played it pretty safe with this title. When the first title in the series came along, it was a revolutionary spin on the genre. However, they've done little to innovate the series and this 4th installment is largely a rehash of the same mechanics of the past. Though, this title has a different story and setting.

Ownership: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Game is fantastic and I highly recommend it to Mario and RPG fans alike.

Cons: The game can throw tutorials at you for a time but other than that the game is tons of fun.

As per the rest of the games in the Mario & Luigi series, Mario & Luigi Dream Team includes a handful of interesting mini games (outside of the Mad Skillathon and Battle Ring ones with pages dedicated to them) that can be played time and time again for high scores and prizes. Here are some descriptions of each and a list of prizes for them.

Kylie Koopa’s Photo Puzzles

Description: Reassemble photos by solving jigsaw puzzles with the touch screen.

Location: Wakeport Simulator for mac.

Comments/Strategy: Well, how do you usually solve a jigsaw puzzle? Look for the edge/corner pieces first, then look at the picture on the top screen and try and figure out which pieces are likely to go where based on what characters are featured on them. It’s extremely easy, since the time limits given are ridiculously generous and the pieces slot into place automatically when you get them correct (even if you’re just moving a complete random piece across the board and coincidentally happen to find where it goes).

Notes: This is the only mini game on the list which doesn’t have to be completed in some form in the story.

Mario Dream Team Wiki

Photo Block Locations:

Pi’illo Blimport: To the north east of the area where Mario and Luigi take the welcome quiz.

Pi’illo Castle: Go up the stairs to the left of the entrance to the Collection Room (the Collection Room is where you first find Prince Dreambert and where you meet Professor Snoozemore later in the story) and it’s in plain sight.

Mushrise Park: On a high ledge in the area with the broken fountain. Can be gotten by spin jumping to it, side jumping to it or bouncing up from below with the Bros Ball.

Dozing Sands: Go right past the place where the Dreamstone used to be to the next area, and it’s on top of some high pillars you have to cross with the Ball and Spin Jumping.

Wakeport: Kylie Koopa practically gives you this one, by throwing it into the room in front of you where you first speak to her.

Mount Pajamaja: To the northwest of the area where Mario and Luigi can jump off the cliff to land near the oxygen valve below.

Driftwood Shore: In the area near the warp pipe, on a ledge past a hole only Mini Mario can enter.

Somnom Woods: In the third area with the poison water, near the south of the ‘screen’.

Neo Bowser Castle: In the south west of the first room where Kamek randomises the doors, on a solitary metal platform in the lava.

Puzzle Block Location Screenshots (from Youtube videos):

If I can find pictures of the Pi’illo Blimport, Castle, Mushrise Park and Somnom Woods locations, they’ll be added. You can blame Youtube LPer reluctance to do sidequests for the lack of these, along with the fact I’ve already got them all and hence can’t tell the camera blocks from the others.

Prizes:

Level 1 Puzzle Complete: 100 Coins

Level 2 Puzzle Complete: 300 Coins

Level 3 Puzzle Complete: DX Bean

Pictures of Finished Puzzles

Mole Hunting

Description: A mini game where you have to make Mario burrow into the sand and push crabs out by jumping when underneath them. Sort of like how you dig up beans, except with a bunch of moving targets.

Location: Driftwood Shore

Comments/Strategy: Ah Mole Hunting. Not only is it a mini game that you’re literally forced to beat twice to progress with the main story, it’s also one of the most unpleasant, slow paced and generally annoying ones in the entire game. Basically, you want to predict where the crabs are heading (based on the sand trails), then jump up when they pass over you, which is much easier said that done. You can also use the weird orange box thing too, jumping up from underneath it makes all crabs on screen pop out and count as ‘caught’.

Prizes:

300 Points: 200 coins

400 Points: 300 coins

500 Points: Bare Hammer DX

Notes: The most misleadingly named mini game in the franchise?

The Ball and Rings Mini Game

Description: Jump through the rings without landing on the same tile twice or hitting the moles. That’s pretty much it.

Mario And Luigi Dream Team Game Length

Location: Somnom Woods

Comments Strategy: Coming soon. I need to draw up a few maps for these mini games, since this one requires you to take one exact path round the arena. Still, if I can give any immediate tips… watch the shadows of the rings, since the game’s camera angle is a lie. Remember, it’s very possible for the ring to appear on a tile one north of its actual location thanks to the style and how the ring is floating in mid air. So look for the ring shadows instead, those are the actual tiles the rings are located on.

Prizes:

First time: Two Pi’illos

Other Times: Absolutely sod all! Thanks a bunch you jerks! Thanks for wasting my bloody time! Makes me wish the Mole Hunt had you kill these guys instead of crabs…

Notes: I have no idea what this mini game is really called, since it’s never named in game.
