THERMOSTAT LOCATION

On replacement installations, mount the new thermostat in place of the

old one unless the conditions listed below suggest otherwise. On new
installations, follow the guidelines listed below.
1. Locate the thermostat on an inside wall, about 5 ft. (1.5m) above the
floor, and in a room that is used often.
2. Do not install it where there are unusual heating conditions, such as:
in direct sunlight; near a lamp, television, radiator, register, or fireplace;
near hot water pipes in a wall; near a stove on the other side of a wall.
3. Do not locate in unusual cooling conditions, such as: on a wall
separating an unheated room; or in a draft from a stairwell, door, or
window.
4. Do not locate in a damp area. This can lead to corrosion that may
shorten thermostat life.
5. Do not locate where air circulation is poor, such as: in a corner or an
alcove; or behind an open door.
6. Do not install the unit until all construction work and painting has
been completed.

The CAG1500 is protected against normal static electric discharges.
To minimize the risk of damaging the unit in extremely dry weather,
touch a grounded metal object before touching your thermostat.

REMOVING THE OLD THERMOSTAT

1. Switch electricity to the furnace and air conditioner
OFF; then proceed with the following steps.
2. Remove cover from old thermostat. Most are snap-
on types and simply pull off. Some have locking
screws on the side. These must be loosened.
3. Note the letters printed near the terminals. Attach
labels (enclosed) to each wire for identification.

Remove and label wires one at a time. Make sure the wires do not fall
back inside the wall.
4. Loosen all screws on the old thermostat and remove it from the wall.

4. Hold the base against the wall. Route the wires through the hole below
the terminal block. Position the base for best appearance (to hide any marks
from an old thermostat). Attach the base to the wall with the two screws
provided.

COMPLETING YOUR INSTALLATION

7. See Setup Options to configure jumpers.
8. Install two new Energizer or DURACELL 'AA' size alkaline batteries at
this time. For instructions, see BATTERIES/MAINTENANCE.

9. Install your CAG1500 on its base.
To do this hang the top of the unit by the
tabs on the base, then snap the bottom
of the unit into place. Do not use

unnecessary force. If the body does not snap into place easily, remove the
body, re-hang it from the tabs and try again.
10. Turn the power back on to your heating and/or air conditioning system.
11. Verify that the system and its fan are operating properly. When set to a
high temperature, the heating system should provide warm air after a short
time. Likewise, a cooling system should provide cool air after a short time.
Usually sound from the furnace and air conditioning units can be heard while
they are running. The rush of moving air should be heard within a short time
after either has been started.
12. Your installation is now complete.

N O T E

If you have an electric system and the blower does not operate after

installation, find the electric/gas heat jumper on the back of the body.

Move the jumper to ELEC and perform a HARDWARE RESET.

MOUNTING THE CAG1500

1. Strip insulation leaving 3/8 in.
(9.5mm) bare wire ends and clean off
any corrosion.
2. Fill wall opening with non-
combustible insulation to prevent drafts
from affecting the thermostat.

The CAG1500 alternately displays the current time and the room

temperature. It also displays the day of the week and the current program
period, MORN, DAY, EVE, or NITE. Set temperatures are indicated in the
right side of the display.

You can make program or setting changes with the thermostat body on

the wall, or conveniently removed from its base plate.

FAN MODES:

The fan switch has three positions AUTO, CLEAN, and ON. Setting the

FAN switch to AUTO automatically runs your system's fan as required only
for heating and cooling. The CLEAN position insures that your system's fan
runs at least the programmed minimum duty cycle. The default duty cycle
requires it to run 15 minutes every hour. Setting the FAN switch to ON runs
your system's fan continuously. The FAN icon will flash whenever the fan is
running.

CLEAN AIR CYCLE.

The CLEAN AIR CYCLE insures that the fan runs for at least the specified

duration each hour to circulate and filter the air in your home. Hourly fan run
time may be specified from 9 to 60 minutes per hour.'60' = ON or
continuous run. The default minimum run time is 15 minutes total per hour.
Additional fan run time is not called for when the heating or cooling
requirement exceeds the threshold setting. When additional fan run time is
required, it is met by running the fan at 20 minute intervals, for 1/3 the hourly
run time setting.

EDITING CLEAN CYCLE PROGRAMS

1. Turn rotary dial to SET FAN
PROGRAMS
. You will see a display
similar to that shown here:
2. The start time for the displayed
period will flash to show that this may
be changed. Use the UP/DOWN arrow
keys to change the start time for this
period. One period ends at the start
time of the next period. The beginning of that period may not be any closer
to the beginning of the next period than one 15 minute increment.
3. Press NEXT. The minimum run time flashes to show that it may be
edited.
4. To change the minimum run time for this period, use the UP/DOWN
keys.
5. Press NEXT to accept the setting and progress to the next period.
6. Repeat for each of the four periods per day.
7. When all the periods for a day have been set, the start time for the next
morning will be flashing so that it may be edited.
8. Repeat programming for each remaining day.
9. Rotate the dial back to RUN to accept all current values and end the
programming session.

SETTING THE AIR FILTER LIFE

This value sets the number of days to be counted before a filter

change is indicated.
To set the AIR FILTER USAGE LIMIT:
1. Rotate dial to AIR FILTER.
2. LCD shows: SET LIMIT at lower left, with current setting at center
screen.
3. With a new filter installed, use the UP/DOWN keys to change this
value to the number of days of useful filter life specified by your filter
manufacturer. The available settings are: 000, 30, 60, 90, and 120 days.
The default air filter life setting is 90 days. A selection of 000 days will
disable the Air Filter Counter feature completely, and hide both the
“number of days” and the “bar graph” items from the red lower portion of
the display.
4. The counter for the Air Filter Usage Monitor is automatically reset
back to zero when the usage limit setting value has been changed.
5. Return the dial to the RUN position when finished.

RESETTING AIR FILTER COUNTER

To reset the air filter counter when you replace your filter:
1. Rotate dial to AIR FILTER.
2. Press and release COPY to reset counter
3. Press and release COPY again to restore previous count.
4. Return the dial to the RUN position when finished.

TEMPERATURE OVERRIDE

OVERRIDE allows you to change the current SET TEMPERATURE in

HEAT or COOL until the next program period without changing your
temperature control programs.

Press UP/DOWN to change the current temperature setting. The

OVERRIDE indicator appears on display.

The OVERRIDE will be canceled at the start of the next program period,

and the temperature setting will return to its programmed value.

An OVERRIDE may be terminated by rotating the dial, switching the

mode to OFF, or initiating a HOLD.

Adjusting the set temperature to its program value will also cancel an

OVERRIDE.

TEMPERATURE HOLD

HOLD may be used for manual temperature control. HOLD is the

simplest means to set and maintain a fixed temperature. It allows you to
set and maintain a fixed temperature indefinitely in Heat or Cool without
concern for programming. To initiate a HOLD:

Press and release HOLD.

Adjust temperature as desired with UP/DOWN.

Temperature setting will not change until the HOLD is cancelled.

To cancel a HOLD, press and release HOLD again, rotate the dial, or

switch mode to OFF.

ADVANCED FEATURES

TEMPERATURE SWING

A thermostat works by turning your heating or cooling system on or off

whenever the room temperature varies from the set-point temperature.
This variation is the 'swing.' Your system should cycle on about 3 to 6
times per hour. A smaller swing number increases the number of cycles,
so room temperature is more constant. A larger swing number decreases
the number of cycles, but saves energy in most cases.

SWING SETTING

1. Rotate dial to the AIR FILTER position.
2. Simultaneously press NEXT & HOLD.
3. Use UP/DOWN keys to change swing.
4. Choices are 1 through 9. The default is 2.
5. Rotate the dial to the RUN position to finish.

TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION

1. Rotate the dial to SET DAY/TIME.
2. Simultaneously press NEXT & HOLD.
3. Use UP/DOWN keys to adjust the thermostats calibration by as
much as ± 5°F (± 3°C).

LOCK

To prevent tampering, press NEXT NEXT

NEXT HOLD. This sequence of keys will lock
and unlock the set temperature, programs
and other settings. When the keys are locked,
a padlock icon will be visible above the time
and temperature display. The Lock will be
disabled after a Hardware Reset.

JUMPER SETTINGS

There are four jumpers, each controls a setting depending on its

position.

GAS/ELECTRIC MODE - J4

The position of this jumper controls when the thermostat requests the

system fan to run. In HEAT mode with the gas jumper in place, the fan is
controlled by the heating system itself. In HEAT mode with the jumper
open or removed, the fan is controlled by the thermostat.

5MIN/2MIN MINIMUM RUN TIME - J3

The position of J3 sets the minimum length of time that the thermostat

must remain with Heat or Cool either on or off before it will automatically
switch to the alternate On or Off state. This feature prevents short cycling
and provides compressor protection for cooling units. Choices are 2 or 5
minutes.

TEMPERATURE DISPLAY FORMAT °F/C - J2

The position of this jumper controls whether temperature is displayed

in degrees or

TIME DISPLAY FORMAT 12/24 HR CLOCK - J1

The position of this jumper controls whether time is displayed in 12

hour or 24 hour Military Time format.

REPOSITIONING JUMPERS

To change a setting, the jumper must be repositioned and a

HARDWARE RESET must be performed. These jumpers are located
inside the thermostat on the rear of its circuit board. To access them,
remove the unit from the wall by pressing up on the thumb latch at the
bottom of thermostat and swinging the body out and away.

N O T E

Remove sticker from display.

3. The HEAT or COOL set temperature will be displayed on the right side of
the display. The start time for the displayed period will flash to show that this
may be changed.
4. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to change the start time for this period.
One period ends at the start time of the next period. The beginning of that
period may not be any closer to the beginning of the next period than one
15 minute increment.
5. Press NEXT to accept the displayed start time and advance to edit the
SET TEMPERATURE.
6. Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to change the flashing HEAT or COOL
set temperature to the temperature you desire.
7. Press NEXT to accept the displayed set temperature and advance to
edit the start time for the next period. It will be flashing.
8. Repeat for each of the four periods per day. When all the periods for a
day have been set, the start time for the next morning will be displayed
flashing so that it may be edited.
9. Repeat PROGRAMMING for each remaining day.
10. Rotate the dial back to RUN to accept all current values and end the
programming session.

3. Remove the body from the thermostat’s base by pressing the thumb
latch at the bottom center of the unit and swinging the body away.

N O T E

If you are mounting the base to soft material like plasterboard or if you

are using the old mounting holes, the screws may not hold. Drill a 3/16

in. (4.8mm) hole at each screw, and insert the plastic anchors provided.

SYSTEM MODES:

The Mode switch has three positions HEAT, OFF, and COOL. In the winter,

set the system switch to HEAT to control your heating system. In the
summer, set the switch to COOL to control your air conditioner. In spring and
fall or when the windows are open, you can set the switch OFF.

UP/DOWN/CHANGE ARROW KEYS:

There are two arrow keys just right of the unit’s display. They are used to

adjust set temperatures and change other settings.

COPY BUTTON

COPY will copy the previous day’s Heat, Cool or Fan program into the

current day and advance to the beginning of the next day.

AIR FILTER USAGE MONITOR

The AIR FILTER USAGE MONITOR counts the number of days a filter

has been in use. In RUN mode, the display shows the remaining filter life
via a bar-graph, and the number of DAYS LEFT in the 3 digit filter display
area.

CHANGE FILTER will appear when the days remaining has reached

zero and the filter should be changed. DAYS OVER is indicated when a
filter change is past due. The filter counter can count up for days over
from 000 to 999 days.

SOFTWARE RESET

Use this front panel RESET to return all software settings and programs to

their default values. Option jumpers will be read and operation will
correspond to their current positions. SOFTWARE RESET is disabled while
your thermostat is locked. To assist in reprogramming, copy your programs
into the chart provided before using SOFTWARE RESET.

CAUTION: This thermostat is protected against normal minor static electric discharges,
however to minimize the risk of damaging the unit in extremely dry weather, touch a
grounded metal object before touching your thermostat.

LOCATION
On replacement installations, mount the new thermostat in place of the old one unless the
conditions listed below suggest otherwise. On new installations, follow the guidelines
listed below.
1. Locate the thermostat on an inside wall, about 5 ft. (1.5m) above the floor, and in a
room that is used often.
2. Do not locate where air circulation is poor, such as in a corner or an alcove, or behind
an open door.
3. Do not install it where there are unusual heating conditions, such as: in direct sunlight;
near a lamp, television, radiator, register, or fireplace; near hot water pipes in a wall; near
a stove on the other side of a wall.
4. Do not locate in unusual cooling conditions, such as: on a wall separating an unheated
room; or in a draft from a stairwell, door, or window.
5. Do not locate in a damp area. This can lead to corrosion that may shorten thermostat
life.
6. If painting or construction work has yet to be completed, cover the unit completely or
do not install it.

WARNING:
• Read instructions carefully before removing any wires from your existing
thermostat.
• Do not short (jumper) across the electric terminals on the furnace or air conditioner
to test the system. This may damage the thermostat and void your warranty.
• This thermostat should be limited to 1.5 amps per terminal, and a maximum of 2
amps total; higher current than this may cause damage to the thermostat.
• All wiring must conform to the local codes and ordinances that are in your particular
location.
• Your thermostat is a precision instrument, please handle it with care to avoid
damage.

REMOVAL OF OLD UNIT
1. Turn OFF the electricity to all heating and cooling components. Do not
turn the electricity back on until all work is completed.
2. Remove the cover and front portion of your old thermostat to expose the
wiring connections.
3. Write down the letters printed near each wire terminal that is used, and
the color of the wire that is connected to it. Using the enclosed labels,
attach a label to each of your wires so that the letter matches the marking
on your existing thermostat.
4. When they are all labeled, carefully remove the wires one at a time, making sure that
they do not fall back inside the wall. Do not allow any of the bare wire ends to touch each
other, or any parts on the thermostat.
5. Loosen all of the screws on the old thermostat and remove it from the wall.

MOUNTING
1. Strip insulation leaving 3/8 in. (9.5mm) bare wire ends and clean off any corrosion.
2. Fill wall opening with non-combustible insulation to prevent drafts from affecting the
thermostat.

CAUTION:
Be careful not to drop the unit or disturb electronic parts. Leave the door closed while
the body is being removed from the base.

3. Remove the body from the thermostat’s base by pressing the thumb latch at the bottom
center of the unit and swinging the body away.

NOTE:
If you are mounting the base to soft material like plasterboard or if you are using the old
mounting holes, the screws may not hold. Drill a 3/16 in. (4.8mm) hole at each screw,
and insert the plastic anchors provided.

4. Hold the base against the wall. Route the wires through the hole below the terminal
block. Position the base for best appearance (to hide any marks from an old thermostat).
Attach the base to the wall with the two screws provided.

CONNECTING THE WIRES
5. Wires must be trapped between the black clamps and the brass
terminals as shown here.
6. Securely tighten all of the electrical terminal screws, including any
unused ones.

NOTE:
When you are finished performing your installation and setup options, please remove the
thin plastic film that is protecting the LCD display screen on the front of the thermostat.
This plastic may or may not be present, and is evident by the appearance of fake digits
appearing on the display screen.

** Complete heating and/or cooling system wiring can be found in the WIRE IDENTIFI-
CATION AND WIRING SCHMATICS section of this instruction sheet. The schmatics
shown provide component information for brand new installations or for unreferenced
wires.

Install two new Energizer

®

or DURACELL

®

'AA' size

alkaline batteries before continuing further. Ensure
that the batteries are installed in the proper
direction as per the markings shown in the battery
tray.

NOTE:
All of the settings, options, and components listed
in this section are located on the rear of the
thermostat, on the circuit board.

HARDWARE RESET
The hardware reset is a push button that is located on the right edge of the circuit board,
just above the battery location. This reset button is used by the thermostat to reset the
unit’s clock, and read the position of all of the option switches. When any of the
following items are changed, the hardware reset button must be pushed for the change to
be recognized. User temperature programs are not erased when a hardware reset is
performed.

FURNACE MODE
This is a plastic jumper cap which can be
in one of two positions, GAS or ELECTRIC.

The Furnace Mode setting determines how the thermostat controls the fan operation.
This setting has no effect in Cool Mode. While in Heat Mode, with the jumper in the Gas
position, the fan is controlled by your furnace. With the jumper in the Electric position,
the fan is controlled by the thermostat and is turned on when the heating terminal
becomes energized.

The following option settings are all located within a group of small switches labeled 1
through 6 as shown below, and are located in the center of the circuit board.

[1] MINIMUM RUN DELAY
This sets the minimum length of time that the thermostat must remain with Heat or Cool
either On or Off, before it will automatically switch to the alternate On or Off state. This
feature prevents rapid cycling and provides compressor protection for cooling units.
Switch position OFF is 5 minutes, and ON is 2 minutes.

[2] TIME FORMAT
This determines how the thermostat displays the clock and all other times on the screen.
Switch position OFF is 12 HR, and ON is 24 HR.

[3] TEMPERATURE SCALE
This determines how the thermostat displays all temperatures on the screen. Switch
position OFF is F°, and ON is C°.

[4] FILTER DISPLAY
This determines how the remaining filter life will be displayed on the filter bar graph at
the bottom of the LCD screen. In the Percent (%) mode, the display will count down the
percentage of air filter life remaining before a filter change is recommended. In the Days
mode, the display will count down the number of calendar days remaining before a filter
change is recommended. Either option will display the visual bar graph. Switch position
OFF is Percent mode, and ON is Days mode.

[5] EARLY RECOVERY
Your thermostat has the ability to turn the Heating and Cooling in your home on early, so
that it reaches your programmed “comfort” temperatures at the time you have set them
for. For instance, if you have programmed your thermostat for 70° at 5:00pm, normally
the thermostat would begin to heat your home back up at 5:00pm. With Early Recovery
enabled, the thermostat will calculate the best time to turn the heat on so that the
temperature in your home reaches 70° at or by 5:00pm. During the time that the
thermostat is performing a recovery, the words “IN RECOVERY” will flash in the
temperature portion of the display screen. Switch position OFF is Recovery Disabled, and
ON is Recovery Enabled.

[6] BATTERY MONITOR
This determines whether the internal battery voltage monitor watches the condition of the
batteries that are installed in the thermostat. This setting should always remain enabled
unless the thermostat is being powered by System Power alone, without any batteries
present. Switch position OFF is Battery Monitor On (Enabled), and Switch position ON is
Battery Monitor Off (Disabled).

SOFTWARE RESET
The software reset is a small recessed push button that is located right above the NEXT
button. This button can be pushed with a pencil or the end of a paper clip. This reset
clears all of the heating and cooling programs, filter settings, and other user changeable
preferences to their default values. You should write down your heating and cooling
program times and temperatures prior to using the software reset.

MODE SWITCHES
There are two mode switches on the front, a Temperature mode switch and a Fan mode
switch. The Temperature mode switch has three positions: HEAT, OFF, and COOL. In the
winter, set the system switch to HEAT to control your heating system. In the summer, set
the switch to COOL to control your air conditioner. In the spring and fall or when the
windows are open, you can set the switch OFF. The Fan mode switch has two positions,
AUTO and ON. Setting the Fan mode switch to AUTO, automatically runs your system's
blower fan as required only during heating and cooling activation. Setting the Fan mode
switch to ON, runs your system’s fan continuously, even if heating or cooling is not
needed, including when the Temperature mode switch is in the OFF position to provide air
circulation only.

NOTE:
The Fan mode switch only works if your system provides a wire for the thermostat’s “G”
wire terminal.

PUSH BUTTONS
There are five primary push buttons on the front of the thermostat: The UP and DOWN
arrow keys, the “H” humidity button, the NEXT button, and the HOLD button.

ROTARY DIAL
The LUX Speed Dial

®

provides an easy way to quickly navigate between the different

programming areas. This rotary dial has seven individual positions.

SET DAY/TIME
Rotate the dial to the SET DAY/TIME position. You should see the word SET appear on the
display, along with the clock and a day of the week that is flashing. With the day flashing,
press the UP button to advance the day to the desired day. Press the NEXT button, this
should cause the time to start flashing and the day to remain on steady. Using either the
UP or DOWN buttons, adjust the clock to the desired time. The clock digits will increment
rapidly if either the UP or DOWN buttons are held in the pressed position.

HEATING AND COOLING
Basic operation of your heating or cooling system can be obtained by ensuring that the
rotary dial is in the RUN position, and simply moving the Temperature mode switch to
either the HEAT or COOL position. Prior to being set initially with your custom
temperature program, and also after a Software Reset, the thermostat will follow the
default Energy Star

®

approved temperature routines that are preset within the thermostat’s

memory, as shown below.

TEMPERATURE OVERRIDE
A Temperature Override occurs in Run mode, in either Heat or Cool, anytime the user
adjusts the set temperature to a value that differs from the stored program temperature
for that day and time. When the thermostat is in an Override, the word Override will
appear in the temperature area of the display. The thermostat will maintain thermal
control using this new set temperature, until the start of the next program period time is
reached. At the start of the next program period, the set temperature will return to its
programmed value. To enter an Override in either Heat or Cool mode, push either the UP
or DOWN button once and the set temperature will begin to flash. Push either the UP or
DOWN button to the new desired set temperature value. An Override may be cancelled by
rotating the dial, changing the Temperature mode switch, or by initiating a Temperature
Hold.

TEMPERATURE HOLD
A Temperature Hold is similar to an override, but is used for maintaining a constant set
temperature for a longer time duration. Once a Hold is initiated, the thermostat will
maintain the Hold set temperature indefinitely. A Temperature hold may be used for days,
weeks, or even months at a time. To enter a Hold, push the HOLD button once, and the
word Hold will appear in the temperature portion of the screen, along with the set
temperature flashing. While the set temperature is flashing, push either the UP or DOWN
button to the new desired set temperature value. To cancel a Hold, press and release the
HOLD button once again, rotate the dial, or change the Temperature mode switch.

RELATIVE HUMIDITY
The “H” button on the front panel may be pressed to view the measured Relative Humidity
in the vicinity of the thermostat. The Relative Humidity feature is available at all times, as
long as the dial is in the RUN position.

AIR FILTER MONITOR
The Air Filter Monitor counts the number of days a filter has been in use since it has been
replaced. In Run mode, the lower portion of the display graphically shows you the amount
of time remaining before filter replacement is recommended. Next to the filter bar graph,
there is a 3 digit numerical display of either Days Left, or Percent (%) Left, for filter life.
CHANGE FILTER will appear when either the Days Left or the Percent Left numbers have
reached zero and the filter should be changed. Days Over or Percent Over is indicated
when a filter change is past due. To set and use the Air Filter Monitor, turn the dial to AIR
FILTER. Use the UP or DOWN buttons and choose the number of days of filter life that
your filter is rated for. Setting this value to OFF will disable the filter monitor and remove
the filter bar graph from the display screen. Return the dial to the RUN position once you
are finished setting the filter life.

RESET FILTER COUNTER
Once you have replaced your filter, the filter counter is reset back to a full bar graph and
full amount remaining value by turning the dial to AIR FILTER and pressing the UP and
DOWN buttons together at the same time. NOTE: The counter is also reset by changing
the filter days setting value to a different number of days.

SPECIAL PROGRAM
When activated, the Special Program operates in much the same manor as the normal
Weekday, Saturday, or Sunday program routines do, however the Special Program
activation is temporary. The Special Program period times and temperatures can all be set
to different values to accommodate a wide variety of usage circumstances that may occur,
such as: home for a couple holiday days during the week, a vacation cut short, and so on.
This feature eliminates the need to temporarily alter the settings for the existing Weekday,
Saturday, or Sunday programming periods that will continue to be used most of the time.
To activate the Special Program, press and hold down the HOLD button for a minimum of
2 seconds. When the Special Program is active, the words SPECIAL PROGRAM will be
present in the upper left corner of the screen, and the clock will alternate with the Days
Left value. Initially, upon activation, you can set the number of days that the Special
Program will be controlling the set temperature. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to change the
Days Left number to a value between 01 and 99 days. 01 Days Left is the default setting.
If a selection is not made, the value of 01 days will be used.

SWING SETTING
A thermostat works by turning your heating or cooling system on and off whenever the
room temperature varies from the set-point temperature. The amount of this variation is
called the “swing.” Your system should cycle on about 3 to 6 times per hour. A smaller
swing number increases the number of cycles per hour, so the room temperature is more
precise and constant. A larger swing number decreases the number of cycles per hour,
but saves energy in most cases. To change the Swing setting, turn the dial to RUN mode.
Hold down the NEXT button and push the HOLD button once, then let go of both. The
words SWING and SET will appear on the screen with a number. Use the UP/DOWN
buttons to change the number value between 1 and 9. Number 1 is the default setting.
Press the NEXT button to accept the setting and return to normal Run mode.

TEMPERATURE CALIBRATION
The internal temperature sensor in this thermostat is accurately calibrated at the factory.
The Temperature Calibration feature allows you to manually offset the measured
temperature by as much as plus or minus 5°F (3°C) degrees from its original value. This
feature can be useful to match this thermostat to another one or more, if multiple
thermostats are used in the same home. To change the Temperature Calibration, turn the
dial to RUN mode, and place the Temperature mode switch in the OFF position. Hold down
the UP button and push the DOWN button once, then let go of both. The words CAL and
SET will appear on the screen with a number. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to change the
number value between -5°F (-3°C) and +5°F (+3°C) degrees. 0 degrees of correction is
the default setting. Press the NEXT button to accept the setting and return to Run mode.

HUMIDITY CALIBRATION
The internal humidity sensor in this thermostat is accurately calibrated at the factory. The
Humidity Calibration feature allows you to manually offset the measured humidity by as
much as plus or minus 15% from its original value.
This feature can be useful to match the displayed humidity to that of another humidity
measurement device that you may have. To change the Humidity Calibration, turn the dial
to RUN mode. Push the “H” button once to display the humidity. Hold down the UP
button and push the DOWN button once, then let go of both. The words SET, CAL, and
%RH will appear on the screen with a number. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to change the
number value between -15 %RH and +15 %RH. 0% RH of correction is the default
setting. Press the NEXT button to accept the setting and return to normal Run mode.

KEYLOCK
To prevent tampering with any of your settings or temperatures, most of the front panel
buttons can be locked out by pressing the following four-button sequence: NEXT, NEXT,
NEXT, HOLD. This sequence of keys will lock and also unlock these items: UP, DOWN,
NEXT, HOLD, the Rotary Dial, and the Software Reset button. The “H” Humidity button,
and both of the Mode slide switches are not locked out. When the Keylock is activated, a
padlock icon will be visible in the area above the clock as shown below. The Keylock will
be disabled if the Hardware Reset button is pressed.

For all of the programming areas that are described below, this thermostat provides four
independent periods per day for Heat mode and Cool mode, they are: MORN, DAY, EVE,
and NITE. Each period ends at the start time of the following period. The programs for
each Temperature mode are programmed separately. When you perform a Software Reset,
an Energy Star

®

approved program is inserted into all of the program periods. You can

use these default programs or alter any portion of them to suit your own preferences.
When setting the program items, the value that is flashing is the item that you can change
at that time.

SET WEEKDAY PROGRAM
Select either HEAT or COOL with the Temperature mode switch. Rotate the dial to
WEEKDAY PROGRAM. You will be programming all five weekdays at the same time. The
first period is MORN. Using the UP and DOWN buttons, set the start time for this period,
and then push the NEXT button to proceed. Now set the desired set temperature for the
MORN period using the UP and DOWN buttons, and push NEXT to proceed. Now set the
start time and set temperature for the DAY period, pushing NEXT after each to advance.
Continue with these same steps to set the start time and set temperature for the EVE, and
NITE program periods. When you are finished setting all four periods, you may continue
pushing the NEXT button through all four periods to review your entries, or turn the dial
to RUN if you are finished. These same programming steps for all four periods must be
performed in both Heat and Cool Temperature modes independently.

SET SATURDAY PROGRAM
Turn the dial to SATURDAY PROGRAM. You will begin with the start time of the MORN
period, and use the same procedures that were performed while setting the Weekday
Program periods, using the NEXT button to advance through the values. Return the dial to
the RUN position when you are finished.

SET SUNDAY PROGRAM
Turn the dial to SUNDAY PROGRAM. You will begin with the start time of the MORN
period, and use the same procedures that were performed while setting the Weekday
Program periods, using the NEXT button to advance through the values. Return the dial to
the RUN position when you are finished.

SET SPECIAL PROGRAM
Turn the dial to SPECIAL PROGRAM. You will begin with the start time of the MORN
period, and use the same procedures that were performed while setting the Weekday
Program periods, using the NEXT button to advance through the values. Return the dial to
the RUN position when you are finished.

This thermostat can be powered either by “AA” alkaline batteries, by 24VAC system
